I told the second Elinor Dashwood that I would give some serious thought to our conversation. She seemed satisfied with that, smiling that creamy little self-congratulatory smile of hers, her teeth whiter . . . more

I did not complain (too loudly) when you caged me for five hours of car travel over the weekend, and I have accepted my diet of hairball-formula "lamb" nuggets in place of the hot buttered mice you promised me at the time of my adoption. But, I have about reached edge of my cardboard box today! I want back into my basement!!

I'm pinging you, 'cause it's late, I can't sleep, and I thought it might be fun. I don't think I've ever pinged anyone before. Or would the past tense of ping be pang, or pung? Pinged looks like it should be pronounced like singed or impinged, don't you think? How long should a ping be? Is this too long? I'm driving north this weekend -- bringing the girls and Julie's boyfriend Trevor to meet the fam. Should be fun, but wintry. Okay. I think I'm done pinging.

Hey, Thom, I'm on page 69 of your latest book. I must say, it's quite an entertaining read, even though I'm a bit partial to the author.
